Orange Blossom Honey (California)

Tupelo Honey (Florida)

Tupelo honey, often called “the champagne of honeys,” is one of the rarest honeys in the world. It comes from the White Tupelo tree (Nyssa ogeche), which grows only in the swamps and river basins of Florida’s Apalachicola River and small parts of Georgia and Alabama. These trees bloom for just two to three weeks each spring, and the entire crop depends on perfect weather during that short window. Because the growing region is so limited and harvests are small—only a few hundred barrels a year compared to thousands of tons of other honeys—pure tupelo honey is highly prized and often sells for two to three times the price of regular honey.
