About Us

Sumter Bee Company was founded by a husband-and-wife team, both proud U.S. military veterans, driven by a shared love of nature and community.
In 2015, we purchased a single beehive—it seemed like a fun and rewarding endeavor. We quickly discovered that beekeeping was a challenging hobby. Through years of reading, research, and plenty of trial and error, we've grown from that one hive to managing around 60 thriving colonies.
As our experience and hive count grew, we began exploring ways to create more than just honey from our beehives. Our first product was lip balm, which quickly expanded into beeswax candles, lotion bars, body butters, and hand balms.
Today, we offer more than 10 unique products that utilize honey and/or beeswax, along with a wide selection of beekeeping supplies and equipment. Additionally, we cultivate a variety of flowering and vegetable plants in our greenhouses—grown from seed with a special focus on native flower species.
We are deeply passionate about all pollinator species and are committed to sustainability. Our mission is to help preserve native habitats and work in harmony with the native insects that play such a vital role in our ecosystem.
